hey Brandon, i have a question for you. i just had to reload a laptop after it craped out on me. trying to decide on virtual dj or back to pcdj. the only question i have is how to search for songs on VDJ. i have a hard-drive with over 100.000 songs on it. i downloaded the trial of VDJ and cant seem to get the hang of the search. is there something that needs to be done with the mp3 files before you can do any searches.??

One more thing you left out. If your going SATA to USB you are transferring at USB speeds. Not 3GB a sec. You need an ESATA connection for that. You basically just gimped two SATA drives to run at USB speeds from what I see.

Whats the specs on the seagate?Found some online but not sure which is the right one.

Its better to use a hard drive with its own power. If it gets its power from the usb port alone it slows down your laptop. Computer tech told me that.

Thats cool I also have usb power HDD but they are not big enough I need 2 TB HDD

Also… i wouldnt recommend this for all DJ’s. Most DJ’s would benefit from having to plug in an extra power cable… so a bus powered 2.5″ usb drive would be better. You can get them up to 500gb and you can get them at 7200rpm which is the same speed of the larger 3.5″ drives. The bonus is you dont have to plug in a power supply every time you go somewhere.

32mb buffer does NOT mean it transfers at 32mb/sec. A 32mb buffer is definitely better than a 16mb buffer but the speed isnt calculated by the buffer.

Knowing Mikey Mike you’ll probably literally build one from scratch with circuit boards and other random HD components. lol
