A highly acclaimed video which has been shown in galleries across Europe. Exploring the concept of The Mirror and the Lamp from Romantic theory and its critical traditions. Illustrating the hydrodynamics of the poetic process, the poetic mind becomes enraptured with creation and exalted into an ecstasy. Chris Boyd is a draughtsman who creates videos that are painterly outpourings addressing the complex inter-relationships between nature, technology, creation and destruction. In 2004 Chris received a Microwave award from FACT, the UK’s leading organisation for the development and exhibition of film, video and new media. He won the Big Art Challenge, where he was labelled a genius by art critic Brian Sewell, the 6 part series on channel 5 was aiming to seek out the next Damien Hirst or JMW Turner with a prize of £10000. In 2005 Chris received a Priestley prize and provided a video in 40 artists 40 Days, a special Tate Britain project supporting London’s Olympic bid that brought the Games to Britain in 2012. In 2006 he curated the Chaosmos exhibition for the Liverpool Biennial. Tigs’ has been described as Karen O fronting the Queens of the Stone Age. Commissioned by Ross Anderson Polydor Records

I love the brooding romantic poet associations and the blue rose or flower that was an emblem for that i think. Yeh I agree the editing is amazing. Its got a sort of flatish picture space then the others like its more graphic and very composed.

This music video is an absolute work of art. His degree show at Manchester was probable the best ever. Everyone there knew they were experiencing something important. I could of stayed in there watching his work forever.
