Mix Test 1 – Live Remixing a Photo Stream – SMC Seattle August Event
For fun I like to experiment with new approaches to rich media production. In this sample I take a stream of 500 photos shot in rapid capture mode about 1 per second. Next the photos are ingested into the Final Cut Studio timeline with .25 second intervals. I then save out the photo stream to create an HD video. Then I use VJ software to remix the photo stream video. This software works like Photoshop Effects Filters, but in real-time. With WIFI SD Cards and really fast processors this would be possible to remix a live photo stream in real time and then syndicate over the internet. When we hear about the “Real-Time Internet” and “Social Media” most often people are talking about 1st generation text, not 3rd generation live HD media. This is the area I am interested in tied with augmented reality systems.

Also the 2 cameras make it a outstanding deal to choose the 4th gen over the 3rd/2nd. I think its a better deal to go with the ipod touch 4th gen then the iphone 4 because first you don’t have to pay for a plan which costs thousands of dollars over the 3 years and if you loose your ipod touch 4th gen (-230$) it its not like you’ll have to buy another iphone 4 (-500$) And with the extra money you save you can buy a HD camera which shoots full HD for less then 250$ which is a much better way to go. I’d rather take around a Flip MinoHD and ipod touch then a iphone 4 just so I feel a little less worried about loosing one. Watch the review for more info on the iOS 4.1 and the video quality. Enjoy!
